Vet Warn: Beloved Dog Chews May Trigger "Werewolf Syndrome"

One of the most startling incidents took place in Noordhorn, Netherlands. A dog called Jayden experienced a severe response following the consumption of the chewing sticks.
His owner, Manon Grave, recounted how he turned frantic, wailed loudly, and attempted to flee out of a window. "He behaved like a wolf. It was horrifying," she stated.
The vet who attended to Jayden had encountered four comparable cases previously. Due to the severity of their symptoms, two of those canine patients unfortunately had to be euthanized.
Food safety authorities across Europe are collaborating to identify the source of the problem. Researchers are examining if a harmful compound present in the chew sticks could be behind these adverse responses.
At present, there is no indication that these treats are hazardous to people.
Tina Potter, a representative from the FSA, cautioned pet owners to remain vigilant. She advised, "To be safe, avoid giving these items to your animals. Should your canine exhibit signs of illness, promptly consult a veterinarian and inform them precisely what was consumed."
