Two Hospitalized Following Highways Crash in Clay County

CLAY COUNTY, Neb. (KSNB) — On Thursday evening, two individuals were transported to the medical facility following a collision involving two vehicles in Clay County, as reported by the sheriff’s department.

Shortly after 9 p.m., the Clay County Dispatch was alerted about an accident occurring at the junction of Highway 6 and Road K, located two miles south of Harvard.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office reported that a Ford pickup truck was moving eastward on Highway 6 when it tried to make a left turn towards the north onto Harvard Spur (also known as Road K). While executing this maneuver, according to authorities, a Chevy pickup truck coming from the opposite direction collided with the first vehicle.

CCSO said neither driver was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Airbags did deploy with the drivers sustaining injuries. Both were taken to Mary Lanning Healthcare for treatment.

The sheriff’s department stated that currently, no tickets have been handed out since the accident is still being looked into.

The responding agencies were Harvard Fire & EMS, Clay Center Fire & EMS, and Clay County Emergency Management.
