Scholarship Winners Address Big Tide Career Fund at Event

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — The first-ever Big Tide Career Fund took place at the J.W. Marriott Plant Riverside.

WSAV’s Tina-Tyus Shaw acted as the host, along with Big Tide awarding scholarships to three students.

They embody the upcoming leadership cohort from Savannah High, Liberty County High, and Bradwell Institute.

I am deeply humbled to kick off the first year of our career fund and present awards to these remarkable student talents as they head to college," stated Robert Gould, founder of Big Tide. "Additionally, we support students moving straight into trades. Our aim is to serve as a bridge, providing them with crucial resources needed for their success.

The recipients were Riniya Roberts, Ivan Tovar Torres, and Oquahajie Williams.

It demonstrates that through diligence and commitment, success can be achieved," stated Williams. "As a student-athlete, we put in significant effort both inside the classroom and outside of it, such as on the playing field. We often return home late at night—sometimes around 8 PM or even midnight on Fridays—and yet manage to keep up our grades. Achieving top marks consistently holds great significance for me.

I am deeply thankful for being able to receive this," stated Roberts. "Honestly, when I found out initially, I was quite stunned. It’s just incredible!
