Public Input Sought for Upcoming Development of North Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) — The city of North Las Vegas is eyeing a significant new project and seeks input from the community to guide its development.

To the north of the VA Hospital and the 215 Freeway lies an expanse of desert that is set to be transformed into an entire new city known as Tule Springs East.

We would like to gather input from the community members. What are their thoughts? And not only from them but also from individuals living in Southern Nevada," stated North Las Vegas City Manager, Micaela Moore. "What elements do they believe contribute to forming a comprehensive city?

The city initiated a three-week survey aimed at collecting public feedback on various topics ranging from housing to open spaces and including aspects of a UNLV campus.

We aim to understand the kind of housing preferences individuals have," clarified Moore. "Are they leaning towards lower density areas? Or do they prefer mixed-use developments? Perhaps they favor rural settings? These are the types of queries we intend to explore.

The primary objective outlined by city officials is to develop an area focused on generating jobs, with key sectors being healthcare and research.

“As part of a complete city, we would like to see people to be born here,” Moore said. “Right now, we don’t have a medical facility where there’s a labor and delivery.”

This plan encompasses conservation efforts, improved walkability, intelligent infrastructure development, and crucially, a vision crafted by the community members who reside here.

Truly a once-in-a-lifetime chance to influence how an expansive region will appear. Think of it as designing the layout for a vast tract of land, precisely 7000 acres.

The city expressed their hope that the feedback will assist in shaping the development plan anticipated to be completed this summer.
