Pope Francis Makes First Public Appearance Since Returning From Vatican
Pope Francis made his first public appearance since returning to the Vatican following his struggle with a severe illness. pneumonia put him on the brink of death.
A unexpected visit from the Pope occurred when he moved among the crowd while being pushed via a wheelchair through Saint Peter's Square roughly two weeks following his discharge from the hospital.
'Very kind thoughts this fine Sunday,' stated the 88-year-old Pope following a mass held for those who are ill.
Since March 23, Franciscus has not been seen in public after giving a brief farewell at Rome's Gemelli hospital upon exiting following over five weeks of medical care during what was the most severe health challenge of his twelve-year pontificate.

In an unexpected turn of events, the Pope appeared before the crowd just prior to midday after concluding the Mass celebrated as part of the Catholic Church’s Jubilee Year festivities.
Stepping up to the principal altar under the open sky, Francis greeted the spectators with a wave before delivering a short address to welcome them.
Encircled by an array of smartphones and camcorders, with oxygen tubes connected to his nose, his voice remained frail yet clearer compared to when he departed from Gemelli Hospital on March 23rd. He made his final public appearance on February 14th.
In theory, Francis is supposed to be recovering for two months after his serious health crisis, which means he needs complete bed rest, avoiding all public appearances, and staying away from large groups of people.
Here’s the latest update on this developing story. Stay tuned for more information as it comes in.
