Pet Funeral Firm Faces Accusations Over Roadside Dog Dumping Scandal

Many pet owners in Maryland were shocked to find the bodies of their pets discarded beside the road by a funeral business instead of being cremated as promised.

Loving Care Pet Funeral Services in Catonsville is facing allegations of improper handling of cremations, as reported locally.

Darrine Timpson told WBAL He had gone to collect his pet's ashes earlier this month when he received a call from animal services 30 minutes later. They informed him that they discovered his pet's remains alongside eight others' at the roadside.

"It was still quite overwhelming to comprehend that someone could exploit not just me, but also eight other individuals," Timpson stated.

Rodney Ward, who owns the company, mentioned that a customer contacted them regarding one of these allegations. He shared with the outlet that this information came as a complete surprise to him.

He mentioned that a newly hired staff member was meant to transport the animals to Hyattsville for the cremations, however, the dogs ended up being abandoned on the roadside.

"We operate under the belief that they are cremating our pets according to our agreement. To the best of our knowledge, we ensure that when we return the cremated remains to their owners, they receive the right pet," Ward stated to the publication.

Timpson stated that he is uncertain whether the remains he possesses are from a pet or a human, and he plans to take legal action against the firm.

Ward informed the television network that he hasn't managed to reach the staff member and has returned the funds to the customers who were impacted.
