On Friday, the board awarded Jack Hoffman's family an honorary degree for the 19-year-old.

"During his valiant fight against cancer, Jack demonstrated to everyone in Nebraska and beyond what true courage and strength really mean. Furthermore, both Jack and his family transformed their struggle into something beneficial by not just speaking up as voices for, but also acting as advocates for children battling brain tumors," stated student regent Sam Schroeder.

Since 2013, The Team Jack Foundation has amassed over $14 million in donations.
