Mariah Carey Slams Labeling "Emancipation of Mimi" as a 'Comeback Album': Exclusive Interview

Carey’s 10th studio album, 'The Emancipation of Mimi,' marked its 20-year milestone on Saturday, April 12.

Mariah Carey felt irritated with how they referenced one of her iconic albums.

In an exclusive interview with, the artist behind "Emotions," who is 56 years old, disclosed that she didn’t appreciate it when they referred to her tenth studio album as such. The Emancipation of Mimi — marking its 20th anniversary on Saturday, April 12 — a "reunion album."

“At first, it irritated me when they referred to it as a comeback album,” stated Carey. “But nowadays, I simply say, ‘Yeah, that’s my comeback album.’”

She added, "How many more times can I make a comeback?"
