Laredo Native Tony Dalton Reprises Role in 'Daredevil: Born Again'

Tony Dalton, an actor from Laredo who identifies as Mexican American, has lately rejoined the Marvel Cinematic Universe by appearing in two episodes of "Daredevil: Born Again."

Dalton, who came into this world in Laredo back in 1975, spent his formative years in Mexico City. Later on, he made his way to the Eaglebrook School located in Deerfield, Massachusetts, followed by studies at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York City.

In 2004, Dalton appeared in the Mexican telenovela "Rebelde." That same year, he starred in the film "Matando Cabos" and worked as a writer. In 2017, he took the leading role in the HBO series "Sr. Ávila," which claimed the International Emmy Award for Best Non-English Series.

Arguably at the height of his prominence, Dalton portrayed Lalo Salamanca in the "Breaking Bad" spinoff "Better Call Saul" from 2018 to 2022.

In the 2021 Disney+ limited series "Hawkeye," Dalton first appeared within the Marvel Cinematic Universe across all six episodes, portraying Jack Duquesne. This character is depicted as a affluent social figure with expertise in fencing who is eventually unmasked as a vigilante called the Swordsman.

InEpisode 6 of "Daredevil: BornAgain," titled "ExcessiveForce," which was releasedonMarch 25,Dalton madea comeback. Duringtheepisode, Duquesnecrosses paths withVincent D'Onofrioin his roleasMayorWilsonFisk, commonlyreferredto astheKingpin,at afundraisingevent.

As Fisk looks for financial support from the city’s upper crust, Duquesne cautions him, "Disregard the individuals in this room at your own risk. Though they might not employ garrotes or concrete boots, a single phone call to the appropriate contact could lead to an unexpected departure from Gracie Mansion." Upon Fisk questioning whether this constitutes a threat, Duquesne clarifies that it was merely a cautionary remark.

In Episode 8, called "Isle of Joy," which first aired on April 8, their interaction is reversed during a galactic ceremony.

As his anti-vigilante task force becomes more audacious, Fisk hints at knowing Duquesne's secret, stating, "You're aware of the gossip circulating about you? Should I refer to you as Swordsman, the vigilante?"

"Even if I understood what you're referring to, such an occurrence would stand alone," Duquesine replies.

Following this, Fisk states that it would still constitute sufficient grounds for a visit from his task force. Duquesne then inquires if this is meant as a threat, to which Fisk responds, "No, certainly not. It’s just a caution."

The concluding episode of "Daredevil: Born Again" premieres on Tuesday, April 15, on Disney+, and a second season consisting of eight episodes is set to launch in 2026.
