Kelvin Sampson Addresses Offensive Woes Against Florida: "Not Our Early-January Struggles"

Both the Houston Cougars and the Florida Gators started with a slow pace on offense during Monday night’s NCAA National Championship Game. Throughout the beginning of the game, both squads struggled significantly when attempting shots from long range. Early on, Houston's head coach Kelvin Sampson did not shy away from making jokes about it.

Although Sampson’s team didn’t begin the game as strongly as desired, he must be satisfied with their defensive performance during the first half. As the second period approached its halfway mark, the Gators only managed to score 25 points, trailing behind the Cougars who were ahead at 29-25.
