Jamie Siminoff Returns to Amazon as Head of Video Doorbell Division

Jamie Siminoff, the founder of Ring who initially launched the company from his garage, has returned to Amazon. leaving the company As its CEO in 2023, Siminoff joined Amazon after the company bought Ring in 2018. However, he departed from Amazon in 2023 to start another venture which later got purchased by door hardware manufacturer Latch Inc. Two years prior, upon leaving Amazon, he stated that inventing was what truly drove him. Currently, he has taken up the position of CEO at this new endeavor. vice president overseeing both the Ring division and Amazon’s smart home camera arm known as Blink, along with the firm's in-garage delivery service named Key, and managing the Amazon Sidewalk—a lower bandwidth, extended range communal network.

Siminoff is taking over from Elizabeth Hamren, who assumed his position two years ago. Previously, Hamren served as the COO at Discord and held leadership roles at both Microsoft and Meta. As per Bloomberg , she's still seeking out new prospects both internally and externally within the organization.

In a post welcoming him back Posted on the Amazon website, Siminoff gave a concise overview of his upcoming initiatives for the division he leads. His primary emphasis will be on enhancing security measures so that individuals feel confident their homes remain protected "even from afar." Additionally, he aims to ensure seamless integration among various device types within Amazon’s home-security offerings. Furthermore, Siminoff discussed his intention to investigate further applications of artificial intelligence in forthcoming Amazon products and services. According to him, “We currently stand at an unprecedented juncture due to ongoing advancements in AI technology, which presents us with remarkable opportunities such as our innovative Smart Video Search feature.” He added optimistically, “This marks only the beginning; we have barely begun exploring all potential uses of AI. I am eager to delve deeper into these possibilities alongside my colleagues.”
