Drones Attack Unique Facility in Saransk: Inside the Strike on a Special Plant

On April 5th, drones struck a facility in Saransk during the nighttime hours. This particular plant specializes in manufacturing fiber optic cables used exclusively for drones and holds the distinction as the sole establishment of this type within Russia, as reported by the Telegram channel Baza.

"The unmanned aerial vehicles targeted the fiber optics manufacturing plant in Saransk. The incident led to a blaze near the premises of the facility," according to the report.

Residents say they observed anywhere from six to eight unmanned aerial vehicles in the airspace.

Furthermore, Artem Zdunov, who leads Mordovia, verified the assault on Saransk.

"Last night, one of the enterprises in Mordovia was attacked by UAVs. All necessary forces and resources are involved to address the aftermath," he wrote.

He mentioned that both operational and emergency services are functioning at the location, and as reported, there have been no recorded injuries.

Saransk is a Russian city that serves as the capital of the Republic of Mordovia and also functions as the administrative hub for the associated municipal area.

Drone assault in the Samara region

Apart from the attack in Saransk, drones also struck an industrial site in Chapayevsk during the nighttime hours of April 5.

The local administration has stated that apparently there are no victims; however, experts from the Ministry of Emergency Situations are currently engaged in putting out the blaze, with reports indicating that the situation remains stable.

This isn't the first drone assault on Saransk.

In January this year, a "carpet" mode was declared at Saransk Airport due to a purported drone threat.

On the same day, provisional limitations were enforced at the airports of Kaluga, Penza, and Saratov.
