Chinese Social Media Blows Up With Clips of Trump and Musk's Factories
AI-generated images of President Donald Trump and Elon Musk working in factories have gone viral on Chinese social media sites.
The trend, driven by the swiftly increasing trade dispute between the U.S. and China, was particularly popular on TikTok where users posted images of the duo placed next to each other in a manufacturing warehouse, mocking Trump's efforts to relocate jobs to the United States.
Why It Matters
As Trump has eased off his retaliatory tariffs for much of the globe, China stands out as the principal adversary in the ongoing trade conflict. At present, Chinese exports to the U.S. encounter a tariff of 145%, whereas the U.S. confronts a counter-tariff of 125%. Numerous American businesses, particularly those within the technology industry, depend heavily on commerce with China, underscoring the importance of this bilateral connection.

What To Know
The Trump administration has consistently stated that the aim of these tariffs is to repatriate manufacturing jobs to the United States, since numerous supply chains for present products depend heavily on Chinese labor.
"There exists a type of D.C. insider who wishes to engage in an actual conflict with China yet simultaneously desires China to produce a significant portion of our crucial supplies," stated the Vice President. JD Vance stated on Thursday. "This situation is absurd. President Trump seeks peace, yet he also desires fair trade practices and increased economic independence for America."
These remarks have turned into an object of ridicule on Chinese social media platforms, where users are prompting artificial intelligence to create images and videos depicting Donald Trump and his political associates laboring in factories.
A video generated by artificial intelligence started on TikTok and garnered 17 million views after being shared on Elon Musk’s platform X, previously known as Twitter features numerous American workers laboring in factories for popular companies such as Nike and Musk’s enterprises. Tesla , with Trump slogans flying in the background.
A different clip, which garnered 6.7 million views combined on platforms such as TikTok and X, presented itself as a promotional piece for the Trump campaign. It highlighted American workers engaged in manufacturing sophisticated devices like smartphones. The video concluded with the phrase: "Make America Great Again."
One clip featured Trump, Musk and Vance standing on a Nike production line, manufacturing the popular shoe brand by hand in an American factory.
What People Are Saying
Chinese President Xi Jinping, During his European journey on Friday, he mentioned that the present trade scenario posed "various risks and obstacles," adding that "trade conflicts are detrimental; ultimately, everyone loses."
The Chinese Embassy in the U.S., in a statement issued on Friday stated: " Even if America were to impose even more stringent tariffs, it would cease to be economically viable and would eventually be remembered as a laughingstock in global economic annals.
Considering that the Chinese market cannot accommodate U.S. imports at the present tariff rate, should additional duties be imposed on Chinese goods by the United States, China would likely disregard such actions.
If the United States continues to significantly undermine China's interests, China will respond with strong measures and stand firm until the end.
What Happens Next
Trump has provided no signs that he intends to reduce the current tariff levels on China. Similarly, the Chinese leaders have demonstrated their readiness to respond proportionately to any increase in the conflict.
