Car drove erratically in 5-vehicle crash on I-93 that killed 1, DA says
The Massachusetts State Police along with Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan’s office are seeking assistance from the public regarding this matter. A five-car collision occurred on Interstate 93 in Medford , Ryan’s office stated on Friday.
Around 6:30 PM on Thursday, according to a statement from Ryan’s office, an accident occurred involving a Toyota Camry, a Subaru Forester, a Ford Explorer, a Honda Odyssey, and a Ford F350 pickup towing a trailer.
The statement indicated that the Toyota Camry "might have been behaving unpredictably before the multi-vehicle collision," based on initial data.
The operator of the Ford F350, Fredis Saravia-Corvera , 34, passed away following the rollover accident involving his truck. The State Police had previously released a statement about this incident.
A person riding in the Honda Odyssey was injured and admitted to the hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening, according to Ryan’s office. All other individuals involved in the accident stayed at the scene.
"As part of the continuing probe into the accident's origin, officials are requesting that anybody who saw the collision or observed any activities involving these vehicles before the event reach out to the Massachusetts State Police Barracks located in Medford at 781-396-0100," stated Ryan's office.
The accident led to the closing of the northbound part of the highway for about two hours, according to State Police. All lanes were back open shortly before 11 p.m.
The investigation into the accident is still ongoing.
