Caesars Indiana Workers Walk Out as Contract Talks Collapse

Employees at casinos in southern Indiana plan to walk out on the picket line after a strike was initiated due to unsuccessful contract talks.
As stated by Teamsters Local 89 ,a negotiating team set a noon deadline for Saturday for both Caesars Southern Indiana and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians to consent to a contract.
After Caesars and the EBCI did not reply, a strike was initiated. The Teamsters characterized this lack of response as "a disregard for the welfare and dignity of the employees who contribute to making these establishments the most lucrative casinos in the region."
They mentioned that they did not desire a strike, yet they stated that all of their members' demands were quite reasonable, which included being able to "retire with dignity."
"The strike is directly caused by the company's greed, absence of empathy, and their implementation of unjust labor practices following the expiration of the contract," stated the Teamsters.
Caesars has shut down because of flooding from the Ohio River, but they should reopen once the water levels drop.
If that occurs, the Teamsters stated they would organize a picket line at the casino entrance.
We urge all union members, allies, supporters, and the broader community to support our members by not crossing our picketing line and boycotting Caesars Southern Indiana until the strike concludes.
