Arajet Debuts Affordable Flights from Miami: D.R.'s Low-Cost Carrier Expands to the U.S.
With its' slogan "Vamo' Arriba" (Going Up) , which serves as the national airline and is also the biggest one in the Dominican Republic, Arajet , officially kicks off its U.S. operations with its inaugural flight departing from Miami International Airport (MIA). Arajet, launched service In September 2022, this airline currently operates across 16 nations and 23 locations using a fleet consisting of 10 Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft. Due to an Open Skies agreement inked in August 2024, which was approved by both the Dominican Congress and received final endorsement from the U.S., the accord simplified procedures for airlines looking to expand services between these two countries.
The founder and CEO of Arajet, Victor Pacheco, talked about his vision for affordable travel options for Miami residents and explained why he selected MIA as the location for the company’s debut in the United States.
Pacheco states that the airline is promoting roundtrip flights Starting from $250 (which includes taxes), you can travel through routes involving Santo Domingo and Punta Cana. According to recent fare analyses, round-trip economy class flights with various carriers now span between $400 and $550 overall, though pricing goes up during high seasons. The flight duration typically does not exceed four hours for these trips.
