“G20”
Portraying President Danielle Sutton, the strongest commander-in-chief since Harrison Ford’s character in "Air Force One," Viola Davis embodies a warrior who also finds time for mixed martial arts training amidst her global responsibilities. As a group of terrorists storms the G20 summit and takes hostage all leaders present except for Sutton, it becomes clear these antagonists have bitten off more than they can chew.
The "G20" allows Davis an opportunity to unleash her inner Rambo, taking out villains and strangling henchmen with the stock of her submachine gun. It’s absurdly (yet incredibly entertaining).

“Black Mirror”
Just like previous seasons of Charlie Brooker’s dystopian anthology show, this seventh installment presents a mix of strong and weaker episodes. However, the successful entries surpass the less impressive ones, as Brooker’s narratives centered around technological warnings feel increasingly plausible, hitting far too close to home.
Season 7 has once more gathered an impressive ensemble, featuring actors like Paul Giamatti, Rashida Jones, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Cristin Milioti, with the latter reprising her character from the acclaimed Season 4 episode titled "USS Callister."

“Hacks”
The top Comedy Emmy recipient is returning with another season full of reliably hilarious moments and awkward interactions in its fourth installment. Deborah (played by Jean Smart), who has reached the zenith of the comedic industry by being the inaugural permanent woman hosting a late-night show, continues to be just as irritable and self-doubting as before. This persistence stems from her former protégée turned adversary, Ava (portrayed by Hannah Einbinder), using blackmail tactics to secure the position of chief writer for herself.
Ava appears to be the main casualty in this clash of egos, yet both Einbinder and Smart shine as they add layers of neurosis and narcissism to their characters, making you hope they remain locked in this poisonous partnership indefinitely.

“The Handmaid’s Tale”
When "The Handmaid's Tale" first premiered in April 2017, President Donald Trump had recently taken office. Critics reveled in drawing connections between the series and current events, with women wearing the iconic red robes from the show during demonstrations nationwide. Now, as the television adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s book enters its sixth and concluding season, history seems to repeat itself—Trump is back in office—and although the show may not hold the same prominence in popular culture, its characters continue to grapple with similar issues.
In spite of their contrasting political views, June (played by Elisabeth Moss) and Serena (portrayed by Yvonne Strahovski) find themselves as fugitives fleeing from Gilead. Considering Serena’s previous treacheries, June remains rather cold toward her. However, over time, the mutual threat they face brings these two women together—albeit with some reservations still between them.

“The Last of Us”
Before the premiere of the new season of "The Last of Us" on Sunday at 9 p.m. on HBO, it's advisable to catch up with (or revisit) the initial run of this HBO adaptation of the popular video game franchise.
Initial signs suggest that "The Last of Us" Season 2 will be even bleaker compared to the first—no small feat, as the 2023 debut episode depicted a catastrophic worldwide outbreak that transformed billions into zombie-like creatures ("Infected," according to the show's terminology). The inaugural season primarily follows Joel (played by Pedro Pascal) and Ellie's (portrayed by Bella Ramsey) solitary quest across Boston. 10 miles west of Boston ") across the Great Plains, trying to steer clear of the scattered infected throughout the area. The climax turns out to be brutally intense, where Joel is compelled to face a decision no father figure—or stand-in father—should ever have to confront.
